Assen Victorov from home Lozevo will represent Shumen at the European Youth Summer Games Special Olympics - Warsaw, 2010.
Between 15 - 24.9 2010 Warsaw will hold the European Youth Games Special Olympics. Expected are more than 1600 athletes with intellectual disabilities from 57 countries in 9 sports, 600 coach, 2000 volunteers and over 200 officials. Bulgaria has a quota of 20 athletes with intellectual disabilities and partner in four sports - basketball, athletics, bowling and badminton.
Association”Shining Dawn" received a special invitation from the Special Olympics, Bulgaria to organize and participate in the selection of a representative to the Special Olympics to present our town in the discipline Bowling in Warsaw. The selection took place during a bowling tournament for people with disabilities, organized in Shumen by "Shining Dawn”on 20.02.2010.
Ms. Svetla Yancheva - Member of the Board of Special Olympics - Bulgaria, which was a special guest of the tournament, announced the winner in the presence of a notary. The choice of the selected participant was based on the results of the final standings in the bowling tournament. The age limit of over 16 was also one of the criteria for inclusion in the Bulgarian delegation of the European Youth Summer Special Olympics Games in Poland. So it was that Assen Viktorov from DVUI Lozevo (2nd place in the tournament) became the undisputed favourite to be one of the 20 Bulgarian participants in the Olympics.
Association “Shining Dawn” will sponsor the participation of Assen Victorov at the European Youth Summer Games of Special Olympics in Poland with funds raised by charity initiatives.
