In two consecutive days in December people with mental disabilities sang and danced on the stage of the Concert Hall of the Municipality of Shumen. Everything they showed to the public was fruit, both of the devotion of the social workers who have worked with them during the year and of the efforts of the participants themselves and their will to overcome the difficulties.

The concurs for artistic performances  "UNDISCOEVERED, BEAUTIFUL HOPES” 2010 for people with mental disabilities by mayor of Shumen Mr. Kostov. He welcomed the participants and expressed his hope that for its next edition the concurs will become national.  

Two emblematic works "One Bulgarian Rose" and "I am Bulgarian" in the performance of children from the Resource Centre, Shoumen invited applause from the hall just before the start of the competitive program. For the high good mood of the audience also contributed performances by dancers from Dance Sport Club - Shumen.

Participants from five social institutions for people with mentally disabilities from Northeastern Bulgaria competed with artistic programs during the first day of the contest this year. Particularly inspiring was the performance of participants identified by Balgarevo (Kavarna Municipality), Gorni Chiflik (Dolni Chiflik) and village Lozevo (Shoumen municipality). The jury and the audience evaluated their performances  and ordered them in the following way: I place and the award of the public received the participants from DVUI Lozevo, II place - DVUI Goren Chiflik, III place - DVUI Samuil (Razgrad).
Special awards of the jury, chaired by Mr. Kolev, Chief of Social Policy at the Municipality of Shumen, were given to the homes in Balgarevo and Oborishte (Vulchi Dol). All participants received individual awards from the Association “Shining Dawn”.

As always, this year too the Association awarded its special awards "Shining Heart" and "Wings of the Dreams”.

The Award "Shining Heart" - a trophy with an original design from Delyana Teneva – is given as a recognition of outstanding social work and special contribution to the development of creativity. It was awarded in two categories:

For "Original approach in constructing the artistic program for people with mental disabilities” it was given to Denka Stoyanova - social worker at DVUI Lozevo.
For "Contribution to the development of creative abilities of people with mental disabilities” it was awarded to Nevelina Vassileva - social worker at DVUI Balgarevo.

 "Wings of Dreams" - a special award for promoting the development of creativity in people with mental disabilities – in the category “Society and Development” was awarded to Rosen Zhelyazkov from DVUI Oborishte for his collection of poems “Sea, Love, Verses ..."

"Wings of Dreams" in category "Contribution to the Arts program” was won by Assen Viktorov from DVUI village Lozevo for the original choreography of their dancing acts.

So with many gifts and awards ended the first day of competition. In the evening Association “Shining Dawn” organized a dinner for all participants from the homes in Lozevo, Balgarevo, Samuil, Goren Chiglik and Oborishte at the IRISH PUB.

The second day of competition went under the sign of even more festive mood and emotions. And not just because for the first time in the competition were included day-care centers for people with disabilities, but because the day  coincided with the International Day of Persons with Disabilities December 3rd. So it was natural that the start of the program was given by the Centre for Social Rehabilitation and Integration of Persons with Visual Disabilities who took care of the good mood in the Concert Hall of the Municipality of Shumen before the actual competition.

Day-care Centers for People with Disabilities from Shumen, Razgrad and Dobrich competed for the first time with artistic programs. The awards and the prize of the public were provided by the association "Shining Dawn" and were handed by Mr. Kolev in his capacity of chairman of the jury. The prize for the third place - along with  a CD Cassette player received the boys and girls from DCC "Emilian" – Razgrad. The prize for the second place prize along with a DVD player was awarded to DCC – Dobrich. The first place with the prize of a television set and the Award of the Public - a digital camera - deservedly went to the children from DCC "Sunbeam" - Shumen.

Thus, in two consecutive days two Shumen social institutions took the prime places at this year's III Competition for Artisitc Perfromance "Undiscovered, Beautiful Hopes".

Statuette “Shining Heart” - a special award of Association “Shining Dawn” in Category “Original approach in constructing the artistic program for people with mental disabilities” received Daniela Saevska from DC "Emilian" - Razgrad.

"Shining Heart" in the category: "Contribution to the development of creative abilities of people with mental disabilities” was won by Taneva Valya - Director of DC "Sunbeam" - Shumen.

For the good mood during the two days of competition took care many participants outside of the main program – Subsidiary School “Vasil Drumev”, the Dance Ensemble at III Basic School "Dimitar Blagoev"-  Shumen, the Comedian formation "RAP IDOL" and formation “Youth”.

All participants in the competition and the accompanying program received individual gifts from the organizers of Association “Shining Dawn”. This was possible thanks to the support of many businesses and citizens of Shumen who took part in the initiatives of the "Shining Dawn”.
