Winds of change – “Whirlwind”, “Storm” and “Tornado " competed in Mladost Hall - Shumen

For a second year sport hall "Mladost" - Shumen was the place of hot sport competition organized for people with disabilities. The initiative under the motto "To Give a Hand for Hope" organized society "Zora Ray" was held with the support of the municipality of Shumen. The competitors were from the Boarding School "Vassil Drumev - Shumen, the Home for Adults with Mental Disabilities – Lozevo and Day Centre for Children and Adults with Disabilities "Sunbeam" - Shumen.

"... This is a true celebration in which we all together will show the power of the human spirit and of the desire for change ..." - With these words of Koko Panosyan he announced the idea of the event. He highlighted the fundamental role of the the public and their support for the competitors and the initiatives enabling the full expression of people with disabilities.


Ms. Simona Panosyan - Director of Social Policy and Health "to the municipality of Shumen, expressed its views in an address to participants in the race that the initiative itself is indicative of how good things for disadvantaged people may happen to the future, if an NGO has joined forces with local authorities.
The future, in the face of charming little dancers from the Sport School "Khan Krum" with their coach Evgenia Valcheva brought their sunny mood before the start of sports games.


Background music, special effects and a rain of  falling balloons in the hall came from a distant planet the Star Boy with his little bunny Lolly (the actors from PARTY LUKY Firm). They brought precious gift - the stars of hope for all - and gave to Marty, a boy from the Resource Center, Shumen a great shining red heart as a symbol of eternal friendship.


With much emotion and applause from the public, the festival started. All danced and sang  with the boys and girls participating in the teams of the competing social institutions and the Resource Center, Shumen.

The teams “Whirlwind" (Subsidiary School “Vasil Drumev”), “Storm: (Day Care Center “Sunbeam") and Tornado "(DVUI Lozevo) gave everything it takes to win.

Five-member jury, chaired Tsvetelina Stoeva - coach of the handball club for Children and Adolescents - Shumen, evalued the athletes for speed and precision. The sports games themselves were led by Mrs. Pavlinka Dyakova - a professor of physical culture, who encouraged players and encouraged the audience to support their favorites.


Dressed in their teams’ t-shirts, a gift from the Association “Shining Dawn”, the three teams demonstrated their skill, speed and dexterity in the race. First place and the gold medals for a second consecutive year was won by Subsidiary School "Vasil Drumev”. Second ranked the team "Storm” of the Day Centre "Sunbeam", and third – the boys from DVUI Lozevo. The awards for team and individual places were handed over by Mr. Kolev as a representative of Shumen Municipality and by Daniel Stoynaov as chairman of the Association “Shining Dawn”.
